The mission of the Office of Government & Legislative Affairs is to advocate for the creation of new State Defense Forces in states where none currently exist and to support the expansion, modernization, and preservation of State Defense Forces nationwide. The Office works to advance legislation, policies, and funding measures that strengthen these organizations and provide meaningful benefits to their service members, including paid State Active Duty, paid training, educational assistance, employment protections, and other forms of recognition and support. The Office also monitors and responds to legislation, policies, proposals, reports, and public publications that seek to weaken, restrict, misrepresent, or eliminate State Defense Forces, ensuring that their mission, value, and continued service to their states and communities are effectively defended.
